Stampin' Up! Christmas 2018 Snowflake Card Making Session!

My last video of the year is a series of snowflake cards that I do "on the fly"! I had all of these wonderful little snowflake bits and pieces just hanging around! And it gives a little insight to my card designing processes that may be helpful to you!

Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year and I'll see ya in January!

Stampin' Up! Christmas 2018 Shabby Chic Angels on Earth Card

Before you know it Christmas will be here! It always seems to me that time speeds up this time of year, Christmas sneaks up on me every year!

Shabby chic is the card style for this card. I've used the Angels on Earth stamp set from Stampin' Up! which has a very vintage look to it. I added a little gilding too using the Nuvo Gold Gilding flakes. There are two main things to remember when gilding with those flakes. One is to make sure the Tombow glue is completely dry, the other is to have NO air movement or you'll have flakes everywhere!

Stampin' Up! meets Heartfelt Creations Christmas 2018 Darling Deer card

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! My tree is up and decorated! And then redecorated after my cats were finished adding their "decorating" technique! Everything in my house is considered a cat toy, including me! lol

If you should need a few extra ornaments on your tree, just get out your Star of Light dies, some foil paper and cut your own! I added some that I made using my new favorite crafting supply, Mirri Card Reflective Paper from marcopaper.com!

They really look lovely! And all I did was cut them out and hang them! Easy Peasy!

This weeks card features the cutest little deer pulling a sleigh full of gifts! He came from Heartfelt Creations Merry & Bright Collection Papers. There are 2 sheets in the paper pack with the deer & sleigh plus the branches and the die set cuts them perfectly so it's a big time saving "cheat" to be able to just die cut them! If you prefer to spend the time coloring in your deer & branches there is also a stamp set that coordinates with the dies. And, yes, that is the lacy border I passed over when I made the poinsettia card!

Stampin' Up! meets Heartfelt Creations Christmas 2018 Poinsettia card

Ah! Poinsettias!

If I had to choose between having a Christmas Tree or a Poinsettia plant, for me that would be a hard choice to make!

I've used what might have been a throwaway or scrap pile candidate from the Majestic Labels Twenty Five die. I had originally planned to use the lacy border for this card but when I saw the middle section I thought it looked like an antique mirror! Don't worry, the lacy border will be used for my next Christmas card!

Here's a closeup of the corner decoration that shows the detail in the garland pieces!

Stampin' Up! meets Heartfelt Creations Christmas 2018 I'll Be Home Card

I thought it was high time I did a shaker card and the snowy home & trees landscape that I found in Heartfelt Creations Merry & Bright Collection papers was perfect!

I used some off beat items for this card. One was the dies for the larger foil pine branches. I found those here on amazon.com and I also found the snowflake sequins and the faux snow there too!
My clear glitter is also on amazon.com. I love it because it truely is CLEAR glitter, nice and sparkly with no ab colors showing up. Nothing but sparkle!

Kicking off the Holiday Season.....

with this easy, elegant and highly mailable (is that even a word?) Christmas card! This is perfect for mass producing and it definately will stand out from the rest of the cards with it's handcrafted look!

I wanted to talk about one of the papers I used and that is the silver Mirricard paper. I came across this paper at a scrapbooking show that I went to in Orlando, Florida and I bought silver, gold and copper packs to try out and I LOVE this paper! It doesn't dent like other foils I've tried and has a truely mirror-like finish. I even got a bit of glue on one piece and rubbed it with a damp micro-fiber cloth and it cleaned up and no marks! Marco's Paper sells it (marcopaper.com) and you can go right to it by clicking here! I am seriously spoiled now and I'm going to get more when I run out.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Do you do anything special for Halloween? Since my kids are grown up now I don't do much but I used to make their costumes (and mine!) and it was a big event! Now I just hand out candy with my neighbor. We sit out near the sidewalk on lawn chairs, drink a little wine, and make a fuss over the few children in our neighborhood that come by! My grandson has a fascination with the 3 little pigs and the big bad wolf and he will be the wolf this year! It's still early in the day so I haven't seen him in costume yet but I'll slip a photo in here later 😊

I asked him what he would do now that he was a big bad wolf and he says he's going to huff and eat piggies lol.

I have one last Thanksgiving card to share before I start videoing Christmas cards. I show how to make the tumbled leaves background and this is a great card for sending off thru the mail.

Getting ready for Christmas!

I know, I know, it's not even Halloween yet but I have to get my thoughts turned into cards waaaaay ahead of time! I need time to get the videos made up and y'all need time to order supplies if you see something you just HAVE to have to make your cards! So I spent the day looking at the stamps, dies and papers I want to use for my cards. I gathered up all my Whisper White cardstock scraps and stamped a WHOLE BUNCHA poinsettias, pine branches, pine cones and what looks like pink glittery worms in the picture but is actually garland from Heartfelt Creations Merry and Bright Accents! Doing the garland is rather labor intensive but it looks SOOOOO good I think it might be worth the effort. I used up my Berry Burst scraps for those, stamped them in Tuxedo Black and then dotted on each bead with Nuvo Glitter Drops in Ruby Slipper. Gorgeous! I found out I can easily dot about 10 during the commercials while watching a TV show lol.

What a mess, huh? And that's not nearly all of it! My supplies spilled out into the living room so I could easily look at all of it at once! I want to have some super special cards for the super special people and also some that will go together easily for mass producing!

Now, time to get to work!
    Take care ya'll!

Here's card number two for Thanksgiving 2018!

I'm demo'ing how to make a lovely pumpkin and vine with flowers today. It's very easy to make this card and even tho it has some dimension to it, it should travel thru the mail just fine!  I used a cute little punch for the flowers from EK Success.
It come as a pack with two flower variations and you can find it here on Amazon.com!

Hi Y'all! Happy Wednesday!

Time to start on Thanksgiving Day cards! I'm starting off with one with lots of flowers and autumn leaves! Also loads of dimension on this card!

There are a couple of cutting dies I used on this card that are great all round, use them anytime dies! One is the Spellbinders Hemstitch Rectangles set, the other is the berry branches which are perfect little filler bits for flower groupings. I found that one on Amazon.com but the exact ones I have aren't available anymore. 😡  If you see one, get it, it looks so nice tucked in with the flowers! The Hemstitch Rectangles can be found here as well as many other places, I'm sure!

So , back to the card! Here it is!

Whoo Hoo! It's Wednesday again!

I'm hoping the weather is good for the trick-or-treaters this year. It's still hot here at the moment but at least it's toned down to hot instead of the "Oh my gosh! It's HOT" weather we had been having! This card has a secret surprise on the inside that I'll share ahead of time with all of you, my blogger buddies! Meet George McBones lol. I couldn't help myself, I had to give him a silly name!

I made him from a free coloring page that I found online! It's on this page, just scroll down, he's there! I did a copy image, pasted it into a word file, resized it and printed it out!

Here's the card........ minus George!

Happy Wednesday!

When I was thinking about Halloween cards it occured to me that bats are the butterflies of Halloween! So that thought led me to thinking of the technique I've used before to make hovering butterflies and Voila! hovering bats! A big full moon and some spooky clouds completes the look! I used a font called EgoryCastle for the interior sentiment. If you like it you can download it here from the website 1001freefonts.com

Do you see what I see?

No, I'm not singing Christmas carols way, way too early! I was looking at a post on the Heartfelt Creations Blog, Decorative Floral Tea Box, and noticed something! Obviously I'm not the only one that recycles their trash into card making supplies. Can you pick out what I'm seeing in this picture?

No? You didn't see it? Let me zoom in a little closer........

There! See it now? lol A bit of cardboard from all those shipping boxes we all seem to accumulate sure comes in  handy!
I usually use cereal box cardboard, but then, hey! why not some corrugated! It's a lovely project but this sure gave ME a giggle!

Hope you're all having a lovely day! Take care and get some crafting time in! ttfn!

It's time!

Time to start thinking about holiday cards! Starting off with Halloween, then Thanksgiving and finally Christmas! I'm using Spooky Sweets and Still Night (which is actually supposed to be a Christmas stamp set) for this weeks card! I also used some down-loadable pattern paper you can print out if you have a color printer from Far Far Hill. It's called Magic Night and you can find it here. Of course, if you have some other papers you would rather use, you certainly could!

See the Owl-fully spooky video here if you dare!

Happy Wednesday!

I hope everyone is having a better day than I am today! I was greeted this morning with the results of a gastro problem my dog has been having since (we suspect) our cat, Chaos, shared a raw turkey burrito burger with her the other day 😒. I spent the morning cleaning my floors, THEN I couldn't find the little plastic box I keep my completed and video'ed cards in, along with the materials lists. It could be anywhere since my grandson likes to look at the cards which is why they are in a plastic box! So the list of materials I used isn't included on this card. When and if I find the list I'll add them.

On to the card! I watched some youtube videos on different ways to make pop-ups and when I saw the floating platform one I knew I needed to adapt it to a card! It looks so impressive and it isn't as difficult as you may think to do!

😲 The Holidays are coming!!!

Stampin' Up!'s 2018 Holiday Catalog goes live today! Loads of great stuff in there so be sure to look through it!

Is it Flu season yet? Better stock up on get well cards! lol

Seriously tho, a handcrafted, get well soon card can make a friend feel, if not better, at least loved!

This card uses a stamp collage for the front panel (don't you just LOVE that fat little bird?) and ink blending. I use the big fat makeup sponges for that. If you have trouble getting a nice smooth blend, try them! I also dab them off on my silicone mat after inking. This works the ink down evenly into the surface of the sponge so it's less likely to go on streaky!

Hello to all my fellow craftaholics!

I have a little secret way to help keep your crafting costs down and still use some beautiful pattern papers! If you have a  color printer there are some sites that have the nicest papers to download. The two main ones I use are lianascrap.com (this one is very easy to use) and farfarhill.blogspot.com (this one has TONS of papers but is a little more involved). Granny Enchanted has a informative and amusing tutorial to guide you thru the download process for the Far Far Hills papers, just go here! So how does this save you money? You only need to print the paper you're going to use! No half used pattern paper stacks! Plus you don't need something to store all those papers! I see this as a win-win! Now when I get the "I need to buy papers" urge, I go to one of these websites, choose some paper and download it! Usually lol. I admit I do still buy some papers but they have to be pretty special.

So on to the card! I used some papers for this one from Liana Scraps and amazingly enough the papers I chose match Stampin' Up! inks!

Ooopsy! Um, Happy Saturday (?) everyone!

Somehow my Wednesday blog entry didn't get posted!, Don't know what happened to it but here's the weekly card crafting idea! We'll be making a tag/card! If you're giving a gift, it makes an excellent addition to your wrappings no matter what the event!

Did you like the sentiment stamp I used for the inside of the card? It's rather quite nice! I found it on aliexpress.com and you can find it here!

Treasured Sentiments

Wednesday, August 15, 2018

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I have a bright and cheery birthday card to share with you today. I picked out a panel from the Birds & Blooms pattern paper with a darling, fat little blue bird for the focal point. I'll also be using a super cool cut and emboss border die? folder? What WOULD you call it? Anyways, it both cuts and embosses at the same time. The card sentiments came from a stamp set I found on aliexpress.com and you can find it here! You can get some wonderful stamps and dies on that website at excellant prices,  you just need to be patient because it does take a looooooong time to get to you!

Once again I'm combining Stampin' Up! with Heartfelt Creations products to make this card. We'll be using the beautiful silver embossing paste and the brick mask from the Pattern Party Decorative Masks, both from Stampin' Up! to make the glamorous background! Add some shaped roses and ribbon and that completes the card! Since there isn't any lace (how in the world did that happen?!?) you *could* even give this card to a guy!

Making a 3D Grand Cabinet box with Stampin' Up! Supplies

Background Stamping with a Stencil

This week we'll be getting messy so get out your roll of paper towels! The technique uses stencils as stamps to create a fun, but messy background! It's just one more way to get a bit of extra use from crafting things you already have!

On that note.... as you watch my videos, keep in mind that if you don't have EXACTLY the same things I have used, think about what you DO have that could be substituted. You don't have that sentiment stamp? Use one you have! That flower stamp isn't in your collection? Well, what do you have? Anything close? Use that! I always list the products I've used but I promise the world will not end if you don't use exactly the same things I did. And you will have a card that is uniquely your own!

On my table...July 2018 Edition

Friday Bonus Video!!!

I come across so many crafting things that make me go "hmmmmm what could I do with that!" Some work out to be wonderful additions to my card making, some not so much. I thought I would do an "On my table" series every now and then to share some of these products and my thoughts on using them, good or bad. So here is the first video of the series!

Stampin' Up! meets Heartfelt Creations Hydrangea Thank you card

Stampin' Up! meets Heartfelt Creations Coneflower Today Blooms card

Happy Independence Day to my US friends!

I hope you're all having a wonderful day! I had a 3 day getaway this weekend and it was nice to travel a bit. There was a Stampfest show in Kissimmee and I went to that on Saturday, If you don't know, Kissimmee is near Orlando Florida where Disney World is located. DH and I didn't visit the Big Mouse but we did do some shopping. There are some amazing outlet stores there too!

I'm so proud of myself 'cause I didn't max out my credit card at the stamp show lol. I actually bought very little, partly because it was so crowded there and partly because it turned out that much of what I had on my lists (I researched websites of the vendors beforehand) didn't get taken to the show by the vendors! So while I'd love to say it was my fabulous self-control, it wasn't 😄

This Wednesday's card has some good tips for marker coloring in the video, so you may want to watch it!

Stampin' Up! Six Square All Occasion Card

The six square layout is a rather old one but it works so well with the shabby chic look! We'll also be dying some seam binding to match the card, which is something I just LOVE to do! I bought a HUGE spool of plain white 1/2" seam binding on Amazon (you can find it here ), 100 yards! It will probably last forever and I'm not quite so tempted to buy colored ribbons! And why should I when I can make the perfect color matched ribbon myself?!?

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Day card - Stamp & Die Embossing

This week I have a technique to share that I have never seen done before. Maybe it has and I just haven't seen it but never have I ever seen anyone use a stamp for embossing! We're also going to use a cutting die to emboss so this card really gets some extra use out of our crafting supplies. And with the cost of some of these things, who doesn't like to stretch your dollar and get more out of the things we already have?!?

Stampin' Up! meets Heartfelt Creations Butterflies and Peonies card

A Friday bonus card!

Here's another card using Spellbinders 3D Grand Cabinet die set! This one will fit into an envelope and can pass thru the mail with hardly a care in the world! I'm still in love with this set and have another idea to use it once I work it out in my mind! It gets terribly crowded in there (my mind) at times lol!

Ombre Screen Fold Birthday Card

Happy Wednesday everyone!

I have another way to use the 3D Grand Cabinet die set from Spellbinders to share with you today! Lately I've been screening my purchases by asking myself "can I think of 3 ways to use this". This die set passed the test! So far, there is the way it was designed to be used (which I haven't even done yet!), I did a slimmed down version, now I'm using just the outer die to make a shaped card. AND I have another one more coming! I kept the screen fold card as simple as I could but you can always take the basic idea and run with it!

Stampin' Up! meets Heartfelt Creations Thinking of you card

You know how some cards just fall together? This was certainly one of them! The lace border, vellum flowers and that cute little Gorjuss girl just called out to me! The only thing I couldn't quite decide was where to place the tag!

Stampin' Up! Layered Lace Happiest Birthday Card

Hooray! Hooray! Lots of layered lace! Even with all the lace you can still put this card in an envelope and mail it!

I'm so happy to get back to the "pretty" cards!

Now if it would only stop raining here I would be a super happy camper! I mean really. It's been over 3 weeks of rain here now. Almost continuous. I'm starting to feel a little moldy lol! When I pick up my papers, even they feel a little damp.

I recently got some paperclay and a couple of molds, thinking they would make nice dimensional elements for cards. The first group I tried just wouldn't dry! I waited 3 days! Still damp! I finally put them in my oven and baked them at low temp for a couple hours. The molds were silicone so it was ok. I'm going to wait for the rains to stop before I attempt it again!

Back to the card.... it really is a pretty feminine one. My neighbor loved it and wanted one to send off to a friend of hers!

Stampin' Up! Colorful Seasons Relaxing Father's Day Card

Here it is! The last of my Father's Day cards!

I had this card all designed, made and video'd and then I saw almost exactly the same card in the Stampin' Up! 2018 Annual catalog. Did I see this card before and maybe kept it in my mind? I dunno but after video'ing I was sure as heck going to use it! I justify it because I do demo a technique idea for making sparkly sand and the torn paper surf is different and pretty cool!

Stampin' Up! Marbled Tiles Father's Day Card

Boy, oh boy, will I be glad when I get the last of my Father's Day cards posted! I'm ready to get back to lace and flowers! lol

Stampin' Up! Basic Ink Colors for Flowers Challenge

One of my viewers (Hi Estee!) asked what would be the best 8 Stampin' Up! ink flower colors for someone just starting out in card making. What a question! It really make me think! lol I think I got it down to the very basics I couldn't do without and decided it was just as easy making a video as to answer her question in print. So right off I messed up the video by saying stamp sets not ink colors! Oh boy, I can be such a dope at times! I posted it anyway.
I figured she probably isn't the only one trying to decide what to start out with and I made a few other suggestions for beginners.

These are all the colors Stampin' Up! will have starting in June when the 2018 Annual catalog goes live!

Stampin' Up! Waterfront Father's Day Card

Another card for Dad! It's always so hard to make "guy" cards! You can't use all the pretty lace and flowers! But I think this one will be so nice for the guy that likes outdoorsy, mountainy things! And the sentiment from MSE is so sweet!

How I store my cardstock....

So many ways to organize and store crafting supplies! I thought I'd share how I store my cardstock and scrap pieces. I use Avery (not the same as Avery Elle) Job Ticket Holders. They are 9 x 12" and a nice HEAVY plastic and are actually pockets. I put a label on the top left side because I tend to come at my papers from the right and that was the best place for me to be able to read the label. My papers go into these wonderful plastic pockets and as I get scraps they go right in the front of the pocket so I'm aware that I have scraps in that color!

I then store all of my pockets upright in Whitmor Magazine Storage Desk Organizers. I keep mine in alphabetical order.
You may prefer to arrange them by color family. You can see my watercolor pad there on the left!

Both the Job Ticket Holders and the magazine organizers are available on Amazon.com

Happy stampin'!

Stampin' Up! Artistically Asian Father's Day card

I'm going with an Asian look for this Father's Day card! It's super simple to make but still makes a beautiful serene statement. Now, listen.... this doesn't HAVE to be a Father's Day card, it could be used anytime you needed a more masculine card! Just switch out the sentiments!

***tip - if you like the colored rhinestone eyes and all you have on hand are clear ones you can color your rhinestones with colored Sharpies!

Stampin' Up! Dad Jokes and Crazy Birds Father's Day Card
